Come Get Your Honey at Fotografiska Berlin
Notes on the solo presentation of Come Get Your Honey at Fotografiska Berlin's Emerging Berlin programme, 16 July to 15 September 2025.
From 16 July to 15 September 2025, Come Get Your Honey had its solo presentation at Fotografiska Berlin, as part of the Emerging Berlin programme — curated by Marie-Luise Mayer, with IFA Berlin, and produced with WhiteWall.
Four years passed between the book and this show, which turned out to be the right distance. A book is a private encounter: one reader, one pace, one lap for it to rest on. An exhibition is public in a way that changes the work. People stood in front of the prints in groups, argued gently, came back to a frame a second time. Photographs that sit quietly on a page behaved differently at scale, and the city the pictures were made in was outside the museum door the whole time.
Showing this work in Berlin mattered for a simpler reason too. Most of the people in the photographs live here. Some could visit their own portraits in a museum in the city that took them in — a sentence that would have sounded improbable when we started in 2018.
