Come Get Your Honey

Come Get Your Honey는 베를린의 퀴어, 트랜스젠더, 젠더비순응 난민과 난민 신청자들과 3년에 걸쳐 함께한 시간 속에서 만들어졌다. 이 작업은 내가 놓을 수 없었던 하나의 질문에서 시작되었다: 사진이 보는 것보다 듣는 것에 더 가깝다면 어떨까?

거의 쉰 명에 이르는 사람들이 이 작업의 배경에 있다. 최종 시리즈를 이룬 것은 약 열다섯 점의 초상 사진으로, 가시성과 익명성이 뒤섞여 있다 — 어떤 협력자들은 드러나기를 선택했고, 어떤 이들은 그러지 않기를 선택했으며, 이 책은 두 선택 모두를 동등한 무게로 담아낸다. 이 초상들은 베를린이라는 도시 자체를 담은 사진들과 나란히 놓여, 도시의 개방성과 냉혹함을 같은 페이지 위에 함께 담는다.

내 작업은 사진을 단순히 보는 행위로 여기는 전통적인 시각에 도전하며, 사진이 오히려 듣는 행위에 가까울 수 있다고 제안한다. 나는 사람들을 있는 그대로 온전하게 담아내고자 하며, 재현의 한계를 인식하면서도 그들의 차이를 끌어안는다. 내 이미지들은 그들의 이야기에 대한 나 개인의 관계와 인상을 반영하며, 그렇기에 이는 내 자신의 경험에 대한 주관적인 재현이 된다.
