Come Get Your Honeyは、ベルリンのクィア、トランスジェンダー、ジェンダー・ノンコンフォーミングの難民や庇護希望者たちと共に、三年にわたって重ねた時間の中から生まれた。写真とは、見ることより聴くことに近いのではないか――どうしても手放せなかった、その一つの問いから始まった。

この作品の背後には、ほぼ五十人の人々がいる。最終的なシリーズを支えたのは約十五点のポートレートで、そこには可視性と匿名性が入り混じっている――被写体として見られることを選んだ協力者もいれば、そうでないことを選んだ協力者もおり、本はその両方の選択を等しい重みで受け止めている。ポートレートはベルリンという街そのものを写した写真と並び、この街が持つ開放性と過酷さを同じページの上に留めている。

私の作品は、写真とは単に「見る」ことだとする従来の見方に異議を唱え、それがむしろ「聴く」ことでありうると提起する。私は人々をその全体性において捉えようとし、彼らの違いを受け止めながらも、表象には限界があることを認識している。私の写真は、被写体との個人的な関係や、彼らの物語に対する私自身の印象を反映したものであり、それゆえに私自身の経験の主観的な表現となっている。
